In 2022, the amount of oxygen exported in Eastern Europe declined rapidly to X cubic meters, falling by -19.6% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oxygen exports fell to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Poland (X cubic meters) and the Czech Republic (X cubic meters) were the largest exporters of oxygen in 2022, reaching approx. 29% and 26% of total exports, respectively. Bulgaria (X cubic meters) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 14% share, followed by Romania (6.7%), Russia (6%), Hungary (5%) and Latvia (4.9%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +24.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest oxygen supplying countries in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Bulgaria ($X), with a combined 67% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +16.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per cubic meter, jumping by 22% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, oxygen export price increased by +59.6% against 2018 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per cubic meter), while Romania ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+7.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, approx. X cubic meters of oxygen were imported in Eastern Europe; falling by -20.1% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X cubic meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, oxygen imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Slovakia (X cubic meters) was the main importer of oxygen, achieving 45% of total imports. The Czech Republic (X cubic meters) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X cubic meters), Bulgaria (X cubic meters) and Hungary (X cubic meters). All these countries together held near 42% share of total imports. The following importers - Lithuania (X cubic meters) and Latvia (X cubic meters) - each resulted at a 6.6% share of total imports.
Imports into Slovakia increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Russia (+4.5%), Bulgaria (+2.4%) and Hungary (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +4.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-2.9%), Lithuania (-3.9%) and Latvia (-12.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Slovakia and Russia increased by +14 and +4.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Slovakia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported oxygen in Eastern Europe, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 13% share.
In Slovakia, oxygen imports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (-1.4% per year) and Russia (+1.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per cubic meter, waning by -3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
