Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +38.5% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, respiration apparatus exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 51%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
The Czech Republic represented the main exporter of ozone therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiration apparatus in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 50% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Romania (X tons), Poland (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons), together constituting a 44% share of total exports. Estonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to respiration apparatus exports from the Czech Republic stood at +7.2%. At the same time, Romania (+25.7%), Hungary (+24.2%), Russia (+23.0%), Poland (+5.5%) and Lithuania (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +25.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Estonia (-2.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Romania (+11 p.p.), Russia (+3.8 p.p.) and Hungary (+3.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Estonia, Poland, Lithuania and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -2.5%, -3.5%, -6.1% and -7.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the largest respiration apparatus supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the Czech Republic totaled +9.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Romania (+23.4% per year) and Poland (+19.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 6.7% against the previous year. Export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, respiration apparatus export price increased by +67.5% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+12.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Respiration apparatus imports contracted sharply to X tons in 2021, with a decrease of -85.4% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 1,283%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell sharply in the following year.
In value terms, respiration apparatus imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 713%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which reached 45% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons), together making up a 41% share of total imports. The Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of ozone therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiration apparatus. At the same time, Hungary (+23.5%), Ukraine (+21.5%), Romania (+19.5%), Lithuania (+14.2%), Poland (+12.2%) and the Czech Republic (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +23.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Ukraine (+8.6 p.p.), Poland (+7.4 p.p.), Romania (+4 p.p.), Lithuania (+3 p.p.) and Hungary (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-27.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ozone therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiration apparatus in Eastern Europe, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ukraine ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia stood at -6.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ukraine (+11.3% per year) and Poland (+14.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 86% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a noticeable setback. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
