Parachute Market Size in Eastern Europe

In 2021, after five years of decline, there was growth in the East European parachute market, when its value increased by 3.1% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible descent. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. In 2021, parachute exports in Eastern Europe expanded remarkably to X tons, surging by 6% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, parachute exports fell slightly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 37%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The Czech Republic (X tons) and Romania (X tons) represented roughly 71% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), constituting a 22% share of total exports. Bulgaria (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of -3.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the largest parachute supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 12% share.

In the Czech Republic, parachute exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+6.2% per year) and Romania (-13.0% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, declining by -9.3% against the previous year. Export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, parachute export price increased by +46.0% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 73% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of parachutes and rotochutes decreased by -20.2% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, parachute imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 43%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Romania (X tons) represented the major importer of parachutes and rotochutes, making up 49% of total imports. The Czech Republic (X tons) held a 25% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (6.7%) and Bulgaria (5%). Slovakia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Estonia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +8.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest parachute importing markets in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Romania ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for 72% of total imports. Bulgaria, Slovakia, Lithuania and Estonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Among the main importing countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +17.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 56% against the previous year. Import price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+11.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
