After two years of decline, shipments abroad of parts of boilers for central heating increased by 4.2% to X tons in 2021. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -27.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, boiler parts exports surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Slovakia (X tons) represented the main exporter of parts of boilers for central heating, constituting 51% of total exports. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 20% share, followed by the Czech Republic (8.8%), Belarus (6.5%) and Ukraine (5%). Hungary (X tons) and Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Slovakia increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+38.4%), Belarus (+26.7%), Ukraine (+13.5%) and Poland (+6.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +38.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hungary (-3.5%) and the Czech Republic (-6.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Belarus (+5.5 p.p.), Poland (+5.1 p.p.), Ukraine (+2.9 p.p.), Russia (+2.5 p.p.) and Slovakia (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Hungary and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -3.1% and -12% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) remains the largest boiler parts supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Slovakia stood at +4.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+5.3% per year) and Belarus (+48.5% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 18%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of parts of boilers for central heating was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Poland (X tons), distantly followed by Slovakia (X tons), Russia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) represented the key importers of parts of boilers for central heating, together creating 93% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +35.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), Slovakia ($X) and Romania ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 74% share of total imports. The Czech Republic, Russia, Bulgaria and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.

Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +24.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
