In 2022, Russia (X units) and Belarus (X units) were the largest exporters of pedestrian-controlled tractors in Eastern Europe, together committing 70% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

These countries were followed by Lithuania, Romania, the Czech Republic and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 28%.

Among the main exporting countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +47.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -19.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

For the third year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in purchases abroad of pedestrian-controlled tractors, which increased by 27% to X units in 2022. In general, imports saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 73%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, pedestrian-controlled tractor imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 63% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Russia was the major importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at 66% of total imports. Romania (X units) took a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Ukraine (6.8%) and Poland (4.6%). Lithuania (X units) and Moldova (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +35.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+46.4%), Poland (+43.2%) and Lithuania (+19.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +46.4% from 2012-2022. Moldova experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ukraine (-13.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Romania, Poland and Lithuania increased by +58, +13, +4.3 and +2.4 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest pedestrian-controlled tractor importing markets in Eastern Europe were Romania ($X), Russia ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising 73% of total imports.

Poland, with a CAGR of +39.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -22.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 66% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
