Latvia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the largest exporters of peel of citrus fruit or melons in 2021, recording approx. 34% and 33% of total exports, respectively. The Czech Republic (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Lithuania (X tons) and Russia (X tons). All these countries together held near 29% share of total exports. The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -27% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a notable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 52%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Citrus fruit or melons peel imports surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by 31% compared with the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +41.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 32%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, Poland (X tons) was the key importer of peel of citrus fruit or melons, constituting 57% of total imports. Russia (X tons) held a 22% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (6.1%). The following importers - Ukraine (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Latvia (X tons) - together made up 9.6% of total imports.
Imports into Poland decreased at an average annual rate of -1.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Latvia (+19.4%), Hungary (+14.7%), Russia (+8.6%), the Czech Republic (+7.9%) and Ukraine (+6.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Latvia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +19.4% from 2012-2021. While the share of Russia (+10 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+2.6 p.p.), Latvia (+2 p.p.) and Hungary (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Poland (-19.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported peel of citrus fruit or melons in Eastern Europe, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland totaled +5.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Russia (+4.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (+13.2% per year).
