The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 18%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, bath preparations exports reduced to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +52.2% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Poland prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 73% of total exports in 2021. Russia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 6.3% share, followed by the Czech Republic (4.9%). Ukraine (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Slovakia (+9.1%), Russia (+4.9%) and Ukraine (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +9.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Hungary (-2.6%) and the Czech Republic (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+12 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Ukraine, Hungary and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -1.8%, -4.2% and -5.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest bath preparations supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 6.5% share.

In Poland, bath preparations exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+6.9% per year) and Hungary (+1.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 9.6%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+9.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2021, overseas purchases of perfumed bath salts and other bath preparations were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, bath preparations imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the four major importers of perfumed bath salts and other bath preparations, namely Hungary, Romania, Poland and the Czech Republic, represented more than half of total import. Russia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 7.9% share, followed by Ukraine (7.1%) and Slovakia (6.5%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +5.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Hungary ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 53% of total imports. These countries were followed by Russia, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine, which together accounted for a further 32%.

Slovakia, with a CAGR of +6.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 17% against the previous year. Import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, bath preparations import price increased by +65.5% against 2015 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
