For the eleventh consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded growth in shipments abroad of plastic doors, windows and their frames, which increased by 11% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 18% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, plastic doors and windows exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 32%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Poland represented the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which reached 68% of total exports. Romania (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Slovakia (X units). All these countries together held near 21% share of total exports. The Czech Republic (X units), Lithuania (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic doors and windows exports from Poland stood at +9.4%. At the same time, Romania (+14.1%), Lithuania (+9.8%), Bulgaria (+6.0%) and Slovakia (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +14.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-3.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+6.3 p.p.) and Romania (+6.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Slovakia and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -3.8% and -6.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest plastic doors and windows supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 5.3% share.
In Poland, plastic doors and windows exports expanded at an average annual rate of +13.7% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+17.3% per year) and Slovakia (+1.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, growing by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, the amount of plastic doors, windows and their frames imported in Eastern Europe declined modestly to X units, which is down by -4.7% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +17.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, plastic doors and windows imports amounted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +122.3% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the five major importers of plastic doors, windows and their frames, namely the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania and Romania, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Poland (X units), comprising a 6.7% share of total imports. Latvia (X units) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +9.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic doors, windows and their frames in Eastern Europe, comprising 33% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the Czech Republic amounted to +1.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Slovakia (-2.6% per year) and Hungary (+6.6% per year).

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 6.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 12% against the previous year.
