In 2022, Poland (X tons) was the major exporter of polycarboxylic acids, generating 67% of total exports. Russia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X tons) and Hungary (X tons). All these countries together took near 28% share of total exports. Lithuania (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of polycarboxylic acids. At the same time, Belarus (+7.7%), Hungary (+6.2%), Russia (+5.2%) and Lithuania (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest polycarboxylic acid supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 7.7% share.

In Poland, polycarboxylic acid exports contracted by an average annual rate of -1.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+2.5% per year) and Hungary (+6.6% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 17% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 44% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, the amount of polycarboxylic acids imported in Eastern Europe dropped to X tons, waning by -4% compared with the year before. Total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -5.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 15%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
