In value terms, Romania ($X) emerged as the largest polyester tow and staple, not carded, combed or otherwise processed for spinning supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Romania was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (-4.7% per year) and Poland (+6.8% per year).

Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +45.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 7.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 25%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
