The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 31%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

The shipments of the three major exporters of polystyrene in primary forms (excluding expansible polystyrene), namely Hungary, Poland and Russia, represented more than two-thirds of total export. In value terms, Hungary ($X), Russia ($X) and Poland ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 81% share of total exports. The Czech Republic, Lithuania and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +30.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+0.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X tons of polystyrene in primary forms (excluding expansible polystyrene) were imported in Eastern Europe; rising by 13% compared with the previous year. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polystyrene in primary forms imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The countries with the highest levels of polystyrene in primary forms imports in 2021 were Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons), Belarus (X tons), Romania (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Lithuania (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons), together recording 95% of total import.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +8.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest polystyrene in primary forms importing markets in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and Romania ($X), together comprising 51% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, which together accounted for a further 43%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +7.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, surging by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the Czech Republic ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) and Bulgaria ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
