After two years of growth, overseas shipments of prefabricated buildings decreased by -3.1% to X units in 2022. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +30.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

In value terms, prefabricated buildings exports reached $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the four major exporters of prefabricated buildings, namely Estonia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Lithuania, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Romania (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Latvia (X units) and Russia (X units). All these countries together took approx. 17% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +9.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest prefabricated buildings supplying countries in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Estonia ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 64% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +13.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of growth, overseas purchases of prefabricated buildings decreased by -6.3% to X units in 2022. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +91.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 64%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, prefabricated buildings imports contracted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +115.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 91%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

Imports by Country

Poland (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Russia (X units) and Hungary (X units) represented roughly 58% of total imports in 2022. Slovakia (X units) held a 7.9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Lithuania (6.8%), Belarus (6.8%), Bulgaria (5.5%) and Romania (5.3%).

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +17.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prefabricated buildings in Eastern Europe, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled -2.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+10.8% per year) and Poland (+7.7% per year).

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -2.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 17%.
