In value terms, prepared baking powder production declined slightly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in overseas shipments of prepared baking powders, when their volume increased by 3.1% to X tons. Total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 38%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, prepared baking powder exports amounted to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +71.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Poland represented the largest exporter of prepared baking powders in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 42% of total exports in 2022. Hungary (X tons) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Latvia (13%), Russia (12%), the Czech Republic (6.6%) and Romania (5.4%). Bulgaria (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bulgaria (+26.1%), Romania (+18.5%), the Czech Republic (+3.6%), Latvia (+3.5%) and Russia (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +26.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Hungary (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+13 p.p.) and Romania (+4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-3.6 p.p.) and Hungary (-15.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest prepared baking powder supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Latvia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland stood at +8.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Latvia (+5.8% per year) and Hungary (-6.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 1.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+2.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Prepared Baking Powder Imports
Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, after five years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of prepared baking powders, when their volume decreased by -0.9% to X tons. Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, prepared baking powder imports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Poland represented the major importer of prepared baking powders in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 45% of total imports in 2022. Ukraine (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Russia (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Hungary (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 42% share of total imports. Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the prepared baking powders imports, with a CAGR of +15.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+12.6%), Hungary (+3.4%), the Czech Republic (+3.2%) and Ukraine (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Slovakia (-1.2%) and Russia (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+29 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Slovakia, Ukraine and Russia saw its share reduced by -2.7%, -3.5% and -8.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prepared baking powders in Eastern Europe, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ukraine ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland amounted to +15.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ukraine (+0.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+4.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 3.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
