Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 17%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of process control, gate, globe and other valves declined to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +15.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Poland (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) represented roughly 57% of total exports in 2022. Russia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 14% share, followed by Romania (6.9%), Hungary (6.1%), Belarus (5.4%) and Bulgaria (5%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +6.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Hungary ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 73% of total exports. Russia, Romania, Bulgaria and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Romania, with a CAGR of +8.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 2.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of process control, gate, globe and other valves in Eastern Europe contracted to X tons, falling by -7.1% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, imports of process control, gate, globe and other valves declined to $X in 2022. Ukraine (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to process control, gate, globe and other valves imports into Russia stood at -1.1%. At the same time, Hungary (+9.9%), Poland (+5.0%), Romania (+4.3%), the Czech Republic (+3.5%) and Belarus (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +9.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Ukraine (-6.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+5.8 p.p.), Hungary (+2.9 p.p.), Romania (+2 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ukraine and Russia saw its share reduced by -4.2% and -10.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest process control, gate, globe and other valves importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together comprising 69% of total imports. Hungary, Romania, Belarus and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +10.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
