The East European motor vehicle radiator market fell significantly to $X in 2022, shrinking by -18.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a slight contraction. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator production contracted modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, approx. X units of radiators for motor vehicles were exported in Eastern Europe; dropping by -2.6% against 2021. Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +8.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 25%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator exports stood at $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

In 2022, the Czech Republic (X units) and Poland (X units) represented the main exporters of radiators for motor vehicles in Eastern Europe, together committing 66% of total exports. Slovakia (X units) held the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Romania (X units) and Hungary (X units). All these countries together took approx. 29% share of total exports. The following exporters - Russia (X units) and Latvia (X units) - each accounted for a 3.9% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +16.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Slovakia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 79% of total exports. Romania, Hungary, Latvia and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +9.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, growing by 3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 8.2%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of radiators for motor vehicles increased by 5.6% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 9.4% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, motor vehicle radiator imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 26%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

The Czech Republic (X units), Poland (X units), Russia (X units) and Slovakia (X units) represented roughly 79% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X units), comprising a 9.1% share of total imports. The following importers - Romania (X units) and Belarus (X units) - each finished at an 8% share of total imports.

In value terms, the largest motor vehicle radiator importing markets in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Russia ($X), together comprising 62% of total imports. Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

Among the main importing countries, Slovakia, with a CAGR of +9.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 78% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, leveling off in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Hungary ($X per unit) and Romania ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) and Belarus ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+30.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
