In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cows skin exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Slovakia (X tons) represented the key exporter of raw hides and skins of bovine animals, creating 82% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), creating a 17% share of total exports.
Slovakia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the raw hides and skins of bovine animals exports, with a CAGR of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021. Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Slovakia (+37 p.p.) and Poland (+3.3 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In general, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 55%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cows skin imports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 115% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Poland was the main importer of raw hides and skins of bovine animals in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 54% of total imports in 2021. Ukraine (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Russia (X tons). All these countries together held near 43% share of total imports. The Czech Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported raw hides and skins of bovine animals in Eastern Europe, comprising 46% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ukraine ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 5.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland stood at -5.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ukraine (+16.2% per year) and Russia (-3.7% per year).
