The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 31%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, rice bran exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +90.8% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. In 2021, Russia (X tons) represented the main exporter of rice bran, mixing up 57% of total exports. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Lithuania (9.6%). The Czech Republic (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to rice bran exports from Russia stood at +2.4%. At the same time, Lithuania (+12.7%), Belarus (+11.1%), Poland (+9.5%), Slovakia (+7.7%) and Ukraine (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +12.7% from 2012-2021. The Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Poland (+7.5 p.p.) and Lithuania (+5.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -6.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest rice bran supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +5.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+7.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (+2.3% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+3.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of rice bran decreased by -18.4% to X tons, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, rice bran imports rose markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline.
