After three years of growth, the East European rough watch movements market decreased by -15.2% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. Among the main exporting countries, Ukraine, with a CAGR of +415.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -16.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 1,009% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+29.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

For the third consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded decline in overseas purchases of rough watch movements, which decreased by -0.3% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 376% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, rough watch movements imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 74%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Hungary (X units) and Poland (X units) prevails in imports structure, together committing 95% of total imports. Belarus (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
