Safety Headgear Market Size in Eastern Europe

In 2021, the East European safety headgear market decreased by -15.1% to $X, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, safety headgear production contracted rapidly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 103%. Exports in Eastern Europe

For the fourth consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded growth in shipments abroad of safety headgear, which increased by 20% to X units in 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, safety headgear exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Poland was the main exporting country with an export of about X units, which reached 51% of total exports. Russia (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by the Czech Republic (16%) and Romania (5.3%). Slovakia (X units), Belarus (X units) and Lithuania (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to safety headgear exports from Poland stood at +9.8%. At the same time, Russia (+13.7%), Belarus (+10.9%), the Czech Republic (+7.3%) and Romania (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +13.7% from 2012-2021. Slovakia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Lithuania (-18.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic increased by +14, +7.5 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest safety headgear supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 5.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland stood at +25.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+15.4% per year) and Romania (+2.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 35%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+34.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2021, supplies from abroad of safety headgear increased by 21% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 43%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, safety headgear imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the five major importers of safety headgear, namely Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and the Czech Republic, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Bulgaria (X units) took a 5.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Hungary (4.7%).

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Russia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 74% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +19.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, surging by 8.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 153%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
