For the fourth year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in shipments abroad of sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor, which increased by 9% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 73%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, sailboat exports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 63%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.
Exports by Country
Poland was the key exporter of sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was near 75% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X units) and Hungary (X units), together making up a 16% share of total exports. Estonia (X units) and Lithuania (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Hungary (+31.2%), Estonia (+14.9%), Lithuania (+7.7%) and the Czech Republic (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +31.2% from 2012-2021. While the share of Hungary (+3.8 p.p.), Poland (+3.6 p.p.) and Estonia (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Czech Republic (-5.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest sailboat supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Estonia ($X), with a 4.3% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 2.4% share.
In Poland, sailboat exports increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Estonia (-4.3% per year) and the Czech Republic (-1.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -14.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 74%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+14.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, the amount of sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor imported in Eastern Europe skyrocketed to X units, rising by 55% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 131%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sailboat imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 74%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Czech Republic (X units) was the major importer of sailboats for pleasure or sports, with or without auxiliary motor, achieving 37% of total imports. Hungary (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X units), Latvia (X units), Poland (X units) and Estonia (X units). All these countries together took near 57% share of total imports. Ukraine (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +26.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest sailboat importing markets in Eastern Europe were Hungary ($X), Russia ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 73% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +31.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -17.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
