Moreover, Bulgaria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +43.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Russia (-2.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+16 p.p.), Bulgaria (+4.1 p.p.), Slovakia (+4.1 p.p.) and Romania (+3.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the Czech Republic and Russia saw its share reduced by -3.9% and -27.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest metal sawing machine importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together comprising 68% of total imports. These countries were followed by Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria, which together accounted for a further 21%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +20.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
