Screwdriver Market Size in Eastern Europe

In 2021, the East European screwdriver market increased by 11% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of screwdrivers were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, screwdriver exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a resilient increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Czech Republic (X tons) and Poland (X tons) dominates exports structure, together comprising 74% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) took a 9.4% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (6.6%) and Russia (5.3%). Slovakia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +63.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 93% share of total exports. Russia, Slovakia and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5%.

Belarus, with a CAGR of +35.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 15% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+10.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2021, supplies from abroad of screwdrivers was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, screwdriver imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the largest importers of screwdrivers in 2021, resulting at approx. 32% and 27% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together generating a 33% share of total imports.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
