Seat Market Size in Eastern Europe
The East European seat market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. In general, consumption showed a strong increase. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.
Seat Production in Eastern Europe
In value terms, seat production contracted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -31.7% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Eastern Europe
After two years of decline, shipments abroad of seats increased by 31% to X tons in 2021. Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, seat exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Poland dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 51% of total exports in 2021. Hungary (X tons) took a 9.9% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Lithuania (9.4%), Romania (9.1%), the Czech Republic (5.5%) and Bulgaria (4.7%). Slovakia (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to seat exports from Poland stood at +10.5%. At the same time, Hungary (+24.2%), Lithuania (+10.8%), the Czech Republic (+7.8%), Romania (+7.6%) and Bulgaria (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +24.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Slovakia (-6.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+8 p.p.), Hungary (+7 p.p.) and Lithuania (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Bulgaria (-2.1 p.p.) and Slovakia (-9.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest seat supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Romania ($X), with a 9% share of total exports. It was followed by Lithuania, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland totaled +8.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+5.5% per year) and Lithuania (+8.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 31% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Seat Imports
Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, imports of seats in Eastern Europe soared to X tons, jumping by 27% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, seat imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Poland was the key importer of seats in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was near 33% of total imports in 2021. Russia (X tons) held a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (14%), Romania (7.9%), Slovakia (7.3%), Hungary (5.6%) and Bulgaria (5%).
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to seat imports into Poland stood at +18.4%. At the same time, Slovakia (+19.9%), Romania (+15.7%), Hungary (+13.9%), the Czech Republic (+13.4%) and Bulgaria (+13.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +19.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Russia (-4.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (+17 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+4.4 p.p.), Slovakia (+4.2 p.p.), Romania (+3.3 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-33 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 66% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +19.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight setback. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+2.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
