In 2021, after six years of decline, there was significant growth in the East European secateurs market, when its value increased by 27% to $X. Secateurs exports rose significantly to X tons in 2021, picking up by 5.6% against 2020 figures. In general, exports enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 43%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, secateurs exports reached $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 39%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Poland was the largest exporter of secateurs and similar one-handed pruners and shears in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 44% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons), together committing a 51% share of total exports. Lithuania (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to secateurs exports from Poland stood at +15.0%. At the same time, Belarus (+67.3%), Russia (+16.9%), the Czech Republic (+10.0%), Lithuania (+7.4%) and Slovakia (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +67.3% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus, Poland and Russia increased by +16, +15 and +5.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest secateurs supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 7.4% share.
In Poland, secateurs exports increased at an average annual rate of +22.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+16.3% per year) and Russia (+18.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -3% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+8.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, secateurs imports in Eastern Europe skyrocketed to X tons, picking up by 29% against the year before. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +56.9% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, secateurs imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +92.4% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented the main importers of secateurs and similar one-handed pruners and shears in 2021, reaching approx. 31% and 22% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Hungary (X tons), together constituting a 32% share of total imports. Belarus (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +24.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 65% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Romania, Hungary, Ukraine and Belarus, which together accounted for a further 20%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +16.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 17% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+5.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
