Exports in Eastern Europe

In 2021, the amount of signal generators exported in Eastern Europe shrank to X units, falling by -5.3% compared with 2020. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 33%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, signal generator exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

The Czech Republic prevails in exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 51% of total exports in 2021. Poland (X units) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Slovakia (7.4%), Bulgaria (6.4%), Estonia (6.2%), Hungary (5.7%) and Romania (4.6%).

Exports from the Czech Republic increased at an average annual rate of +16.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Slovakia (+84.0%), Hungary (+23.3%), Bulgaria (+4.1%) and Estonia (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +84.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Poland (-8.2%) and Romania (-16.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Czech Republic (+33 p.p.), Slovakia (+7.4 p.p.) and Hungary (+4.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Poland and Romania saw its share reduced by -20.4% and -28.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the largest signal generator supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovakia ($X), with a 4.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 3.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the Czech Republic stood at +22.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+64.2% per year) and Hungary (+18.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 52% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+14.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2021, overseas purchases of signal generators decreased by -16% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 68%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, signal generator imports reduced slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Romania represented the main importer of signal generators in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 50% of total imports in 2021. By contrast, Hungary (-2.5%), Russia (-15.5%) and Poland (-26.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Romania (+37 p.p.), Ukraine (+8.6 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+6.3 p.p.), Bulgaria (+2.8 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia and Poland saw its share reduced by -4.6% and -55% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported signal generators in Eastern Europe, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Romania, with a 7.3% share.

In Russia, signal generator imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-8.5% per year) and Romania (-0.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 71%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
