The East European skis market surged to $X in 2021, jumping by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible descent. It was distantly followed by Ukraine (X tons), creating a 13% share of total exports. Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +13.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 9.3%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2021, approx. X tons of skis for winter sports were imported in Eastern Europe; surging by 1.9% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, skis imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild curtailment. In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7.3% against the previous year. Import price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, skis import price increased by +64.6% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
