Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of snow-skis and other snow-ski equipment, ice-skates and roller-skates amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 18% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The Czech Republic represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 44% of total exports. Romania (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Bulgaria (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 43% share of total exports. The following exporters - Lithuania (X tons) and Russia (X tons) - each recorded a 7.4% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to skis and its equipment and skates exports from the Czech Republic stood at -3.2%. At the same time, Poland (+10.1%) and Russia (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +10.1% from 2012-2021. Lithuania experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Bulgaria (-1.5%), Romania (-4.8%) and Ukraine (-15.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Poland, Russia and Bulgaria increased by +6.4, +2.3 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the largest skis and its equipment and skates supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Bulgaria, with a 15% share.
In the Czech Republic, exports of snow-skis and other snow-ski equipment, ice-skates and roller-skates shrank by an average annual rate of -1.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Romania (+2.3% per year) and Bulgaria (-0.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 15% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+7.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, imports of snow-skis and other snow-ski equipment, ice-skates and roller-skates in Eastern Europe surged to X tons, with an increase of 27% against the year before. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild contraction. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of snow-skis and other snow-ski equipment, ice-skates and roller-skates skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Russia (X tons), distantly followed by Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Romania (X tons) represented the key importers of snow-skis and other snow-ski equipment, ice-skates and roller-skates, together making up 82% of total imports. The following importers - Slovakia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) - together made up 9.4% of total imports.

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 14%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
