At the same time, Hungary (+19.7%), Slovakia (+4.3%) and the Czech Republic (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Romania (-5.4%), Belarus (-11.0%) and Russia (-15.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (+23 p.p.), Hungary (+6 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+3.6 p.p.) and Slovakia (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Romania, Belarus and Russia saw its share reduced by -4.9%, -10.5% and -13.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Russia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 86% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +40.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the export price increased by 43% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+29.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of threading or tapping machines for working metal, when their volume decreased by -13.6% to X units. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Among the main importing countries, Slovakia, with a CAGR of +36.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -27.5% against the previous year. Import price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, metal threading machine import price increased by +5.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the import price increased by 46%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then fell sharply in the following year.
