Tooth Brush Market Size in Eastern Europe

The East European tooth brush market fell slightly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -2.6% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. Exports in Eastern Europe

For the eighth year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in overseas shipments of tooth brushes, which increased by 22% to X units in 2022. In general, exports showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 43%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, tooth brush exports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 39%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Hungary was the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which amounted to 44% of total exports. Poland (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 20% share, followed by the Czech Republic (12%), Russia (9.2%) and Romania (5.9%). The following exporters - Belarus (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) - each amounted to a 6.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to tooth brush exports from Hungary stood at +29.4%. At the same time, Belarus (+35.1%), Russia (+27.4%), Romania (+16.2%), Bulgaria (+12.4%) and Poland (+8.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +35.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Hungary (+34 p.p.), Russia (+6.7 p.p.), Belarus (+2.9 p.p.) and Romania (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Poland and the Czech Republic saw its share reduced by -7.8% and -38% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hungary ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 84% share of total exports. Russia, Romania, Bulgaria and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

Russia, with a CAGR of +24.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded growth in purchases abroad of tooth brushes, which increased by 13% to X units in 2022. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Ukraine (X units) and Belarus (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
