In 2022, Belarus (X units) was the major exporter of umbrellas and walking-sticks, achieving 43% of total exports. Poland (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 24% share, followed by the Czech Republic (14%), Hungary (6.7%), Slovakia (4.9%) and Romania (4.6%). Russia (X units) held a little share of total exports.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+15.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe

In 2022, the amount of umbrellas and walking-sticks imported in Eastern Europe contracted to X units, stabilizing at 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, umbrella and walking-stick imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
