Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 143%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports, with a CAGR of +15.1% from 2012 to 2021. In Russia, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (-4.7% per year) and Hungary (+13.2% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -6.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt descent. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports declined significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 238% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Russia represented the main importer of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was near 68% of total imports in 2021. Hungary (X tons) took a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (8.9%) and Ukraine (4.9%). Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

While the share of Russia (+47 p.p.), Hungary (+6 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+3 p.p.) and Ukraine (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Slovakia (-1.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

The second position in the ranking was held by Hungary ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 9.5% share.

In Russia, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hungary (-0.6% per year) and the Czech Republic (-1.1% per year).
