The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 16%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, veterinary medicine vaccines exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Hungary was the major exporter of vaccines for veterinary medicine in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 44% of total exports in 2021. Lithuania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Hungary ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Russia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 81% of total exports. Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, accounting for a further 7.9%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of +60.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+7.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe
For the fifth consecutive year, Eastern Europe recorded growth in supplies from abroad of vaccines for veterinary medicine, which increased by 8% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, veterinary medicine vaccines imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +95.9% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) represented the major importer of vaccines for veterinary medicine, mixing up 32% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), Poland (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Romania (X tons), Ukraine (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons), together mixing up a 59% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to veterinary medicine vaccines imports into Russia stood at +14.9%. At the same time, Belarus (+31.2%) and Lithuania (+12.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +31.2% from 2012-2021. Ukraine and Romania experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Poland (-2.5%) and Hungary (-6.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+19 p.p.), Belarus (+12 p.p.) and Lithuania (+3.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Ukraine (-2.4 p.p.), Romania (-3.4 p.p.), Poland (-10.7 p.p.) and Hungary (-13.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vaccines for veterinary medicine in Eastern Europe, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +13.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Poland (+7.4% per year) and Ukraine (+4.2% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, declining by -2.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+10.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
