The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-propelled vehicle exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Poland (X units) represented the main exporter of vehicles not mechanically propelled, mixing up 52% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the Czech Republic (X units), Russia (X units) and Romania (X units), together achieving a 35% share of total exports. Slovakia (X units), Lithuania (X units) and Ukraine (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+27.2%), Ukraine (+15.8%) and Slovakia (+9.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +27.2% from 2012-2021. The Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Lithuania (-4.2%) and Romania (-5.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+6.7 p.p.) and Poland (+6.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Lithuania (-2.6 p.p.), Romania (-8.1 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (-8.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest non-propelled vehicle supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 83% share of total exports.

Russia, with a CAGR of +25.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, rising by 17% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 33%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-propelled vehicle imports stood at X units in 2021, increasing by 4.2% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 23%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-propelled vehicle imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +77.4% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Russia (X units), Poland (X units) and Romania (X units) represented roughly 60% of total imports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Ukraine (X units). All these countries together held approx. 18% share of total imports. Hungary (X units), Lithuania (X units), Bulgaria (X units), Belarus (X units), Latvia (X units), Slovakia (X units) and Estonia (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 31% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
