Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, overseas shipments of vulcanised rubber thread and cord decreased by -9.8% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -31.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread exports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -0.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 64%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Exports by Country
Poland was the largest exporter of vulcanised rubber thread and cord in Eastern Europe, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 49% of total exports in 2021. Romania (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Russia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 42% share of total exports. Bulgaria (X tons), Belarus (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Poland decreased at an average annual rate of -3.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Romania (+29.7%), Belarus (+19.5%), the Czech Republic (+12.1%), Russia (+9.0%), Lithuania (+5.1%) and Bulgaria (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +29.7% from 2012-2021. While the share of Romania (+15 p.p.), Russia (+7.8 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+4.5 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Poland (-29.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest vulcanised rubber thread supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 10% share.
In Poland, vulcanised rubber thread exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+3.6% per year) and the Czech Republic (+10.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, rising by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 24% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2021, overseas purchases of vulcanised rubber thread and cord increased by 3.2% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +19.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the key importers of vulcanised rubber thread and cord in Eastern Europe, together finishing at approx. 60% of total imports. Romania (X tons) took an 8.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (8.3%), the Czech Republic (7%) and Ukraine (6.5%). Bulgaria (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +11.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Russia ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 66% of total imports.
Russia, with a CAGR of +12.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 23% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
