Russia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) represented roughly 87% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), generating an 11% share of total exports. The Czech Republic (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +79.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wheat gluten supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Lithuania ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 86% share of total exports. Hungary and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +83.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of wheat gluten imported in Eastern Europe soared to X tons, jumping by 19% against the year before. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 22%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Poland represented the major importer of wheat gluten in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was near 44% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together committing a 44% share of total imports. Ukraine (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Poland was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wheat gluten imports, with a CAGR of +31.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+25.0%), Hungary (+10.3%), Bulgaria (+10.1%), Ukraine (+6.2%), Russia (+3.5%) and Romania (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Poland (+36 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+5.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Ukraine, Hungary, Russia and Romania saw its share reduced by -2.4%, -2.4%, -5.6% and -7.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wheat gluten in Eastern Europe, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hungary ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 9.3% share.
In Poland, wheat gluten imports expanded at an average annual rate of +35.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Hungary (+11.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (+29.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the Czech Republic ($X per ton) and Ukraine ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) and Hungary ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
