In 2022, the amount of wooden furniture for kitchens exported in Eastern Europe declined modestly to X units, with a decrease of -4.7% compared with 2021. Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +41.2% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 28%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture exports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +78.0% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 29%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Poland dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 52% of total exports in 2022. Belarus (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 9% share, followed by Romania (8.1%), Ukraine (8%) and Russia (5.6%). The Czech Republic (X units) and Moldova (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +13.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Moldova (+25.3%), Romania (+23.9%), Russia (+12.4%) and Ukraine (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Moldova emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +25.3% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-1.8%) and Belarus (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Poland, Romania, Moldova and Russia increased by +27, +6.5, +2.9 and +2.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest wooden kitchen furniture supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Romania ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland stood at +11.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+30.6% per year) and Belarus (+0.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while Moldova ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Wooden kitchen furniture imports skyrocketed to X units in 2022, with an increase of 25% compared with 2021 figures. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.3% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, the Czech Republic (X units) was the main importer of wooden furniture for kitchens, comprising 31% of total imports. Poland (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Romania (X units), Slovakia (X units), Hungary (X units) and Russia (X units). All these countries together took near 53% share of total imports. Bulgaria (X units) and Belarus (X units) took a little share of total imports.

Imports into the Czech Republic increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+19.5%), Romania (+13.1%), Poland (+11.8%), Hungary (+10.2%) and Bulgaria (+5.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +19.5% from 2012-2022. Slovakia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Russia (-5.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Slovakia (+10 p.p.), Hungary (+7 p.p.), Romania (+5.6 p.p.), Poland (+5.1 p.p.) and Belarus (+2.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -18.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest wooden kitchen furniture importing markets in Eastern Europe were the Czech Republic ($X), Russia ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising 59% of total imports. Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Belarus and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +19.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per unit, falling by -14.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
