The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cotton fabric exports rose modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 8.4%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) were the largest exporters of woven fabrics of cotton in Eastern Europe, together finishing at near 46% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 12% share, followed by Romania (12%), Poland (9.5%), Hungary (7.1%) and Lithuania (5.5%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Romania (with a CAGR of +20.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Romania ($X) and Russia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 60% share of total exports.
Romania, with a CAGR of +18.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 8.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Eastern Europe
Cotton fabric imports dropped slightly to X tons in 2021, declining by -3.2% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 17%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cotton fabric imports expanded to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 20%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Russia (X tons), distantly followed by Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), Belarus (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) were the largest importers of woven fabrics of cotton, together generating 89% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +11.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest cotton fabric importing markets in Eastern Europe were Romania ($X), Poland ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports. Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
Among the main importing countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +4.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced slump. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+0.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
