X-Ray Generator Market Size in Eastern Europe

The East European x-ray generator market shrank to $X in 2021, dropping by -11.7% against the previous year. Overall, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray generator production shrank markedly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of x-ray generators increased by 6.1% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 7.2%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray generator exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Lithuania (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) represented the largest exporter of x-ray generators in Eastern Europe, achieving 84% of total export. It was distantly followed by Slovakia (X tons), comprising a 5.2% share of total exports. The following exporters - Bulgaria (X tons) and Russia (X tons) - together made up 7.1% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +44.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest x-ray generator supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Lithuania ($X), with a combined 79% share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +18.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 59%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+41.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

After four years of growth, supplies from abroad of x-ray generators decreased by -6.1% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, x-ray generator imports rose to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +55.7% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the major importer of x-ray generators in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 43% of total imports in 2021. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 16% share, followed by Lithuania (11%), the Czech Republic (11%), Romania (6.3%) and Belarus (5.3%). Bulgaria (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of x-ray generators. At the same time, Lithuania (+27.6%), Bulgaria (+11.9%), the Czech Republic (+8.7%), Poland (+8.0%), Belarus (+5.7%) and Romania (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +27.6% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Belarus increased by +9.6, +6.7, +4.9, +2.2, +1.8 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the largest x-ray generator importing markets in Eastern Europe were Russia ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), with a combined 74% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Lithuania, Romania, Belarus and Bulgaria, which together accounted for a further 19%.

Lithuania, with a CAGR of +16.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 12%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+5.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
