Ghana was the major exporter of aluminium alloy tubes and pipes in ECOWAS, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 83% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Nigeria (X tons), generating a 15% share of total exports.

Ghana was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aluminium alloy tubes and pipes exports, with a CAGR of +70.1% from 2012 to 2022. Nigeria (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Ghana ($X) emerged as the largest aluminium alloy tube supplier in ECOWAS, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nigeria ($X), with a 16% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Ghana stood at +34.6%.

In 2022, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, falling by -57.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 16%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Ghana stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (-10.7%).

Imports in ECOWAS

Aluminium alloy tube imports soared to X tons in 2022, rising by 93% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, aluminium alloy tube imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Niger (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) were the key importers of aluminium alloy tubes and pipes in 2022, reaching approx. 30% and 23% of total imports, respectively. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) took a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Nigeria (12%), Guinea (7.5%) and Senegal (7.5%). Togo (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Niger (with a CAGR of +63.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Niger ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium alloy tubes and pipes in ECOWAS, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Cote d'Ivoire, with a 13% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 3.3%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per ton), while Guinea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
