The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, anti-freezing preparations exports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 69%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Senegal (X tons) and Togo (X tons) was the major exporter of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids in ECOWAS, creating 84% of total export. It was distantly followed by Burkina Faso (X tons), comprising an 8.2% share of total exports. The following exporters - Niger (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Guinea (X tons) - each finished at a 6.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Senegal (with a CAGR of +23.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Senegal, with a CAGR of +11.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Burkina Faso ($X per ton), while Ghana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Anti-freezing preparations imports was estimated at X tons in 2021, growing by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, anti-freezing preparations imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 28%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Ghana (X tons), distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Burkina Faso (X tons), Mali (X tons), Guinea (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) were the major importers of anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids, together constituting 88% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +22.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ghana ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 56% share of total imports.

Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +17.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ECOWAS stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 29%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
