Aromatic Polyamines Market Size in ECOWAS

The ECOWAS aromatic polyamines market contracted slightly to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -1.7% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +1.7% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2020, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, aromatic polyamines production declined modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +115.0% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 36%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

Exports in ECOWAS

In 2017, overseas shipments of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof increased by 119% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, exports showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 688% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2017 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, aromatic polyamines exports surged to $X in 2017. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2017, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Senegal was the key exporter of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof in ECOWAS, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 77% of total exports in 2017. It was distantly followed by Ghana (X tons), committing an 18% share of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Senegal increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% from 2012 to 2017. At the same time, Cote d'Ivoire (+29.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cote d'Ivoire emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +29.0% from 2012-2017. Ghana experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2017, the share of Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire increased by +18 and +4.1 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Senegal ($X) emerged as the largest aromatic polyamines supplier in ECOWAS, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.

In Senegal, aromatic polyamines exports plunged by an average annual rate of -20.7% over the period from 2012-2017. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (+853.7% per year) and Cote d'Ivoire (+41.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per ton in 2017, jumping by 45% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a significant decrease. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2017, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while Senegal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2017, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+9.3%).

Aromatic Polyamines Imports

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2021, approx. X tons of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof were imported in ECOWAS; falling by -6.7% compared with the previous year. In general, imports saw a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aromatic polyamines imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Nigeria was the key importer of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof in ECOWAS, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 51% of total imports in 2021. Niger (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Benin (X tons) and Guinea (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 41% share of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Burkina Faso (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Guinea (with a CAGR of +103.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X), Niger ($X) and Guinea ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 82% share of total imports.

Guinea, with a CAGR of +73.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ECOWAS stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per ton), while Benin ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+6.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
