Mali (X tons), Cabo Verde (X tons), Benin (X tons), Togo (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) represented roughly 75% of total exports in 2022. Senegal (X kg) took a 7.8% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (7%) and Burkina Faso (4.5%).

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Benin (with a CAGR of +34.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Cabo Verde ($X) and Nigeria ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 52% share of total exports. Benin, Mali, Togo, Senegal and Burkina Faso lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

Benin, with a CAGR of +36.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. Export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for bed linen of other woven textiles and non-woven man-made fibres increased by +34.7% against 2019 indices. For the third year in a row, ECOWAS recorded growth in overseas purchases of bed linen of other woven textiles and non-woven man-made fibres, which increased by 295% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of bed linen of other woven textiles and non-woven man-made fibres skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
