Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Benin ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Benin (-1.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, imports of blood-grouping reagents in ECOWAS declined modestly to X tons, which is down by -2.3% on the previous year's figure. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -12.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Senegal (X tons) and Burkina Faso (X tons) were the largest importers of blood-grouping reagents in 2022, amounting to approx. 28% and 25% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), Benin (X tons), Guinea (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Mali (X tons), together achieving a 35% share of total imports. Niger (X kg) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Mali (with a CAGR of +23.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest blood-grouping reagents importing markets in ECOWAS were Senegal ($X), Burkina Faso ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a combined 62% share of total imports. Guinea, Benin, Nigeria, Mali and Niger lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Guinea, with a CAGR of +22.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, declining by -5.9% against the previous year. Import price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 84% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Burkina Faso (+15.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
