Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 121% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -15.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Togo ($X per ton), while Gambia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
