In value terms, cinematographic camera exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports faced a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 590% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Nigeria (X units) represented the key exporter of cinematographic cameras for film, mixing up 63% of total exports. Mali (X units) held a 25% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Ghana (13%).

Nigeria was also the fastest-growing in terms of the cinematographic cameras for film exports, with a CAGR of -12.9% from 2012 to 2022. In Nigeria, cinematographic camera exports decreased by an average annual rate of -14.3% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mali (-40.4% per year) and Ghana (-20.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 375% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Ghana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (-1.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2022, approx. X units of cinematographic cameras for film were imported in ECOWAS; picking up by 139% on 2021. In general, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 193%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cinematographic camera imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 159%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Senegal (X units) and Togo (X units) represented the key importers of cinematographic cameras for film in 2022, accounting for approx. 40% and 29% of total imports, respectively.
