Citrus Fruit Market Size in ECOWAS

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in the ECOWAS citrus fruit market, when its value decreased by X% to $X. In value terms, citrus fruit exports shrank to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Ghana (X tons) represented the largest exporter of citrus fruits, creating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), generating a X% share of total exports.

In value terms, citrus fruit imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) represented the largest importer of citrus fruits, achieving X% of total imports. Burkina Faso (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Senegal (X%), Nigeria (X%), Mali (X%) and Cabo Verde (X%). Ghana (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to citrus fruit imports into Cote d'Ivoire stood at X%. At the same time, Nigeria (X%), Mali (X%), Burkina Faso (X%), Ghana (X%), Senegal (X%) and Cabo Verde (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
