As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, continuous-action elevators and conveyors exports fell sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Ghana prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Togo (X units). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. Senegal (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Sierra Leone (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Ghana was also the fastest-growing in terms of the continuous-action elevators and conveyors exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Togo (X%) and Cote d'Ivoire (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Senegal (X%), Sierra Leone (X%) and Nigeria (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then fell notably in the following year.

Ghana represented the key importing country with an import of around X units, which accounted for X% of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Niger (X%), Guinea (X%), Togo (X%), Nigeria (X%) and Senegal (X%).

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Niger (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X), Ghana ($X) and Senegal ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea, Niger and Togo lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Niger, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
