Disperse Dye Market Size in ECOWAS

The ECOWAS disperse dye market fell to $X in 2021, shrinking by -6.1% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Disperse Dye Production in ECOWAS

In value terms, disperse dye production reduced slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 30%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in ECOWAS

In 2021, approx. X tons of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon were exported in ECOWAS; jumping by 83% compared with 2020. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, disperse dye exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Cote d'Ivoire was the largest exporting country with an export of around X tons, which amounted to 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Ghana (X tons) and Togo (X tons), together achieving a 17% share of total exports. The following exporters - Gambia (X kg) and Nigeria (X kg) - each amounted to a 6.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to disperse dye exports from Cote d'Ivoire stood at +3.8%. At the same time, Ghana (+28.2%) and Togo (+7.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +28.2% from 2012-2021. Gambia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Nigeria (-17.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Gambia and Togo increased by +45, +12, +3.3 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) remains the largest disperse dye supplier in ECOWAS, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Gambia ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Ghana, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Cote d'Ivoire amounted to -3.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Gambia (0.0% per year) and Ghana (+24.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 43%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Gambia ($X per ton), while Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Togo (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Disperse Dye Imports

Imports in ECOWAS

After four years of growth, supplies from abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon decreased by -46.9% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 65%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In value terms, disperse dye imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 111% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Nigeria prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 80% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Burkina Faso (X tons) and Ghana (X tons), together comprising a 15% share of total imports. Senegal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into Nigeria increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Burkina Faso (+25.5%) and Ghana (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Burkina Faso emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +25.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Senegal (-5.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ghana increased by +26, +8.2 and +2.2 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported disperse dyes and preparations based thereon in ECOWAS, comprising 77% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Senegal, with a 3.2% share.

In Nigeria, disperse dye imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ghana (+11.5% per year) and Senegal (+5.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per ton), while Burkina Faso ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
