In value terms, Sierra Leone ($X) remains the largest ceramic electrical insulator supplier in ECOWAS, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ghana ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.
From 2020 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Sierra Leone totaled +4.4%.

Imports in ECOWAS
In 2022, the amount of electrical insulators of ceramics imported in ECOWAS expanded modestly to X units, picking up by 2.3% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 1,320%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, ceramic electrical insulator imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 406% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Nigeria prevails in imports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 81% of total imports in 2022. Niger (X units) took a 7.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Ghana (5.9%). Mali (X units) took a little share of total imports.
Imports into Nigeria increased at an average annual rate of +14.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mali (+181.2%), Niger (+89.0%) and Ghana (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mali emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of +181.2% from 2012-2022. Niger (+7.3 p.p.) and Mali (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Nigeria and Ghana saw its share reduced by -3.6% and -8.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electrical insulators of ceramics in ECOWAS, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Niger, with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria stood at -2.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ghana (-5.3% per year) and Niger (+48.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ECOWAS amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -27.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 500%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per unit), while Niger ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mali (+30.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
