In terms of the main exporting countries, Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +57.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -31.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 162%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per unit), while Togo ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+52.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ECOWAS

In 2022, purchases abroad of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma decreased by -4% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 60%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then declined modestly in the following year.

In value terms, LCDs and plasmas imports shrank sharply to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.6% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, Nigeria (X units), Ghana (X units), Senegal (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Burkina Faso (X units) and Niger (X units) represented the major importer of flat panel video monitor, lcd or plasma in ECOWAS, mixing up 89% of total import. Togo (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Niger (with a CAGR of +46.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per unit), while Niger ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
